the gravity load was applied with the aid of a platform that carries and moves the bending section （fig. 8 a） by means of two pneumatic cylinders. the platform is suspended from a circular arch attached to the structure.
assuming the scenario where the flexural capacity of the anchor group is reached （134 μn） and if we assume that the total tensile capacity of the new foundation is equal to the sum of the tensile capacities of the two anchor groups, by means of a tensile test （see eota dba design guide no. 2.3.3: anchor group）, which is 3565.1 kn in the case of an anchor group of 35mm-diameter bars, the maximum stress at which reinforcement can fail without yielding the foundation will be:
the average load was set at 0.1 kn, which is less than 1% of the maximum gravity load. the load was applied in the arch-shaped traction surface defined by three cylindrical rollers, provided by a testing machine, and movable to a position where it maintained the required traction force. they are provided with calibrated pneumatic cylinders, supplied by a pressure source with a constant level of 0.5 bar, which can be selected as desired with a level control valve.
so what do you do if you become convinced that your child has been bullied? how do you keep your children safe when you go to work and when you’re not there? how do you prevent this from happening to other children? these are all questions that rachel johnson, author of how to talk to your kids about bullying, raises in the book. johnson also draws upon her experience as a parent and her background in mental health and speech and language therapy to provide invaluable advice to other parents who are trying to prevent bullying and children who are being bullied. bullying is real and it’s going on in schools. it can be very serious – children who are bullied at school can suffer loss of self-esteem and self-worth, which can lead to mental health problems. why don’t we talk to our children about bullying? bullying is such a complex problem that there are many possible causes and different types of bullying. no one type of bullying is as bad as another, which is why you need to listen to and understand how your child is feeling. if you witness bullying, speak to the bully immediately and if necessary report the bullying to the teacher or the school.
the maximum crack volume was also considered to grow more slowly than the crack speed would suggest. note that this is merely a guideline on how to adjust the stress intensity factor. to take this aspect into account, the notch half-depth （d） was also fitted to the following regression equation. the notch root root diameter （d） was obtained from the ct specimen tensile properties （table 3）.
i started this project by setting up two networks with hopelessly insecure passphrases. the first step was capturing what is known as the four-way handshake, which is the cryptographic process a computer uses to validate itself to a wireless access point and vice versa. this handshake takes place behind a cryptographic veil that can’t be pierced. but there’s nothing stopping a hacker from capturing the packets that are transmitted during the process and then seeing if a given password will complete the transaction. with less than two hours practice, i was able to do just that and crack the dummy passwords secretpassword and tobeornottobe i had chosen to protect my test networks.
but cracking wasn’t the only thing i learned. i also learned a bunch of about wifi technology and a few simple hacks as well. after all, if you can crack wifi, you can crack pretty much anything. and the really nice thing about this project was that i learned all of this about wifi technology and the many interesting mechanics of connecting devices to wifi networks. so, this wasn’t really a project about cracking wifi networks, but rather one about the physics behind it. a mission not easily accomplished.
